The MH-65 Dolphin is a twin-engine, short-range rescue and recovery helicopter operated by the United States Coast Guard. Selected to replace aging HH-52A Seaguard helicopters, the HH-65A (later redesignated MH-65) brought modern avionics, greater speed, and improved all-weather rescue capability to Coast Guard aviation. The Dolphin became the Coast Guard’s primary short-range search and rescue aircraft, performing missions that include maritime rescue, law enforcement, drug interdiction, environmental protection, and homeland security patrols. Operating from shore stations and cutters across the United States, the MH-65 Dolphin has saved countless lives and remains one of the most recognizable and versatile helicopters in Coast Guard service.
