JETs Vol. 26-16: Nimrod MR.2
Our RAF/RN releases are extremely popular, and it’s always a pleasure to work with Timeless Aero to source material, and 26-16 may be our favorite collab to date featuring an RAF icon, the Nimrod MR.2!
The Nimrod was a maritime patrol aircraft operated exclusively by the Royal Air Force. The airframe was an extensively modified de Havilland Comet designed to replace the Avro Shackleton. Nimrods served in numerous conflicts worldwide and hold the unofficial title of being the “World’s largest fighter” due to the RAF equipping a handful of Nimrods with AIM-9s during the Falklands War.
JETs Vol. 26-16 is cut from two different MR.2s: XV228 and XV229. The tags speak for themselves, but the card art by Ryan Roadkill is top shelf JE and is inspired by a vintage postage stamp. The tag/card combo makes for one of our most distinctive releases to date.
Tags cut from XV228 have been cut from the clear portion of a searchlight housing removed from XV228. They come with either laser etched Planform art or Roadkill color printed art.
Tags cut from XV229 have been cut from a roundel fuselage skin section. They are offered in 6 variants: Grey, Blue, Red, Blue/Grey, Blue/Red, and Riveted with the option of laser etched Planform art or laser etched Roadkill sketch art.
For a full rundown of all the variants, check out the release brief video by visiting our YouTube page, here.
A handful of Air Drops, cut from both aircraft are available as "Add-a-Drops." Add-a-Drops must accompany a JETs purchase. To grab a standalone Air Drop, or to learn more about the different Air Drop variants, visit shopairdrops.com beginning at 1215 US CDT (22 May).
