JETs Vol. 25-19: U-2R/S Dragon Lady

The U-2, one of our favorite aircraft, is back again and thick as ever. 

There are hen's teeth and then there are U-2R/S windscreens. We have tagged several U-2 canopies (which are changed regularly during operations), but windscreens are a more permanent fixture on the aircraft and feature much thicker glass.

The more modern variants of the U-2 featured one-piece windscreen glass, and our JETS were cut from this .5” thick acrylic.

Vol. 25-19 is hands-down the best clear (canopy/window/etc) product we’ve ever made. Each JET was hand finished and is offered in 3 variants: Day, Night, and Laser Etched. Day and Night are full-color printed JETs – the Day features orange highlights and Night is, well, darker. The Laser Etched JET is just that and comes on the Night card. We were only able to get 100 JETs out of the windscreen because of the complexity of working with the material.

A Dragon Lady combo is available that comes with a Day Printed JET and a Traps U-2 Pilot.

Card Art: The card this for Vol. 25-19 was illustrated by James Martin, whose own Grandfather was an inspector at Lockheed working on the U-2. It features a U-2 pilot in full get-up.

This release is limited to 100 JETs.

Traps: I’ve been kicking around the idea of offering a slimmed down less stuffy tag/JET for some time. Tags/JETs are great, but as someone who uses them on my keys, something a little smaller would be better suited for the application.

Traps (short for trapezoids) are a scaled down version of our Recon tag shape and feature a triangular hole. No serial numbers, no fuss – just cool metal cut from cool airplanes designed to be banged around. They come attached to a PVC luggage tag featuring original art on one side and a place for your info on the other.
