We’re honored to add Seafire SX336 to the JET EYES family of tags. This particular Seafire is one of only 4 airworthy Seafires in existence, and flies with the Navy Wings. Read more about the outstanding work they do here: https://navywings.org.uk/home/about-us/.

The Seafire:

Emerging in the early 1940s, the Supermarine Seafire was a naval variant of the Supermarine Spitfire, specifically adapted for aircraft carrier operations.

Powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, the Seafire first saw combat in the Allied landings in North Africa during Operation Torch in November 1942. In July 1943, the airframe provided air cover for the Allied invasion of Sicily, continuing this role during the subsequent Allied invasion of Italy in September 1943. A year later, the Seafire supported Allied ground forces during the Normandy landings and Operation Dragoon in Southern France.

In the latter half of 1944, the Seafire became part of the British Pacific Fleet's aerial component, proving to be a capable interceptor against the feared kamikaze attacks by Japanese pilots during the final years of the Pacific War.

The Seafire later adopted the more powerful Rolls-Royce Griffon engine, elevating the airframe’s ground attack and combat air patrol roles during the Korean War. It was one of the last piston-engine fighters used by the service and a formidable force to reckon with.

The wing skin for this very limited release was originally removed from the aircraft by Kennet Aviation – the team behind SX336’s restoration. We sourced this material from our good friends at Timeless Aero.

Our Seafire tags are offered in 5 variants: Painted, Laser Etched Rivets, Laser Etched Solid, Printed Rivets, and Printed Solid. There’s also a unique combo tag listed separately as “59/60.” No further pics or info will be posted about “59/60.”

The Painted tags have portions of the original grey/white paint. Please note that many other tags also have portions of the original paint, but the Painted tags have the most. Please watch the video posted to the JET EYES Facebook page for further info.

The Laser Etched Rivets tags all feature at least 1 rivet hole. The Laser Etched Solid tags have no rivet holes. The Printed Rivets and Printed Solid tags feature the same Seafire tag art but in a high contrast black print.

In addition to the single tags, there will be a Seafire Set (Painted + Printed Solid) and a few Full Sets.

The "Add-a-Tag" option is to add a randomly chosen tag from our current inventory to your order for $35. Max of 3 per customer and to order one you must place an order for a Seafire tag on release day (19 July).

Only 152 tags were cut from this skin, and we expect them to move quickly. All tags come on a card with art by Ryan Quickfall.
