Some of the very earliest material we acquired for tags was skin cut from a B-52 Bomb Bay Door. We released a tag from this material, which has been long sold out. We're now releasing a second edition tag cut from new material removed from the original door.
The B-52:
Originally designed to carry nuclear weapons for Cold War deterrence, the B-52 Stratofortress is an American long-range, subsonic, jet-powered strategic bomber that first took flight in 1952.
Powered by eight Pratt & Whitney J57-P-43WB turbojet engines, the B-52 can carry up to 70,000 pounds of ordnance, including both nuclear and precision-guided conventional weapons. With a cruising speed of 509 mph and a combat range of approximately 8,800 miles, it is one of the most versatile and enduring military aircraft in history.
Today, the B-52 remains a cornerstone of the United States' global strike capability and has evolved to perform a variety of roles over the decades, adapting to changing threats and technologies and is the longest-serving combat aircraft in the world.
The tags:
Like the first run, these tags are offered in 2 variants: Exterior Skin and Interior Skin. The Exterior Skin tags are dark grey and feature laser etched tag art. The Interior Skin tags are light grey and feature a black printed design. Both tags come on a Block 2 version of the original card by BVR.
A total of 200 tags were cut for this second edition.
Also available is an Air Drop cut from this same door. Air Drops can be purchased on the Air Drops page.
